Precision at 500 Samples Per Hour

Measures: somatic cell counts

The Somacount 500 is the ultimate instrument for early mastitis detection. The instruments provide a rapid and accurate count for the SCC (somatic cell count) in dairy milk.

The instrument utilizes dual laser based flow cytometry. We introduced this technology in the dairy testing laboratories, and have continued to be the foremost authorities in this field. The instrument line combines today’s technology with computer controls that  resul in far less moving parts, which again resulted in higher reliability and less maintenance. The technology of flow cytometry has proved itself to be more reliable and in general more accurate.

The Somacount 500 is designed for the lab who needs the ultimate in rapid sample analysis.

With a comfortable speed of 500 samples per hour it sets the pace for the competition. A unique feature of the Somacount 500 is that it has been designed as one instrument using two individual cytometry modules. This acts as a “fail safe” system for the instrument. Should a problem arise that in the past would have forced an instrument to be shut down for maintenance, the special features of the Somacount 500 allow the operator to shut down only half of the instrument and continue testing samples at a reduced speed of 300  samples per hour. First introduced in 1992, it is a proven solution for laboratories and dairies that require high throughput. In combination with the Bentley 2000 it still sets the pace for combination systems. It uses a standard personal computer for it’s operation. Only available as automatic.
